Reading with Reception

To promote a love of reading across the school, Year 4 have partnered up with Reception to allow the children to share a story with each other on a Friday afternoon. This is what some of the children think about reading with reception...

"I think it is really good because it gives us an opportunity to get to know the children in Reception," ...Sasha

"I find it fun because every week we get to read with someone different and I enjoy helping them when they get stuck on tricky words," ...Jacob.

"I feel happy and glad when I do it because I get to read with my sister," ...Dilan.

"I think it is good because we get to see how the children improve their reading a vocabulary each week," Alfie

Leon and The Place Between

In our English lessons, we have been reading a book called Leon and The Place Between. This week, we worked in small groups and performed sections of the book as theatre script.

Roman Day

We had a great day dressing up as Romans and it was a fantastic way to end our 8 week topic. We had a visit from a Roman soldier, we learnt how the famous tortoise formation worked and we did some Roman themed activities. At the end of the day, we invited parents into school to see all of our amazing learning.

Persevering with C.S.Lewis

This week, we have been working on our portrait of C.S.Lewis for our hall display. We took an image of the writer and divided it into 30 equal sections so that everyone had a part to draw. We then put the pieces back together to create this amazing piece of artwork.

Miss Williams gave the whole class the Spirit of St John's for our incredible perseverance.

We are having a great time practicing our football skills in PE this half term. We have worked on dribbling, defending and most importantly, working as a team. We are getting really good!

Table Tennis

We had a fantastic time learning how to play Table Tennis. We practiced balancing the ball on our table tennis bat, we worked on passing the ball to a partner and we had a go at playing on a table tennis table. It was a really great session and we all had a lovely time!
