Religious Education has a very high profile within the St John’s C of E School curriculum and learning activities provide fully for the needs of all learners. Learners will be inspired by the subject and develop a wide range of higher level skills such as enquiry, analysis, interpretation, evaluation and reflection to deepen their understanding of the impact of religion on the world. Attainment should be high and progress significant in developing an understanding of Christianity and a broad range of religions and world views.
Children learn about Christianity and other world faiths using a combination of 'Understanding Christianity' and either 'Discovery RE' (Reception - Year 3) or 'The Emmanuel Project' (Years 4-6). These resources have been carefully selected to ensure pupils' knowledge is developed and built upon as they progress through school. Pupils' learning will be enriched with visiting speakers, visits to local places of worship and involvement in community projects. Teachers use a variety of approaches to bring Religious Education to life for pupils at our school. These include:
Teacher presentations, role play and story telling.
