We have had a brilliant end to a very busy half term with a non-uniform reward day for HAWKS, a whole school Celebration Worship and a Parent/Carer Celebration of Learning Worship. School is now closed for the Half Term Break and we look forward to welcoming all of the children back on Tuesday 4th November. PE days will be sent via an In-App message and added to our Facebook page before our return to school. We hope that you have an enjoyable break.
Reception's Week with The Little Red Hen! This week, our Reception class have been busy learning all about The Little Red Hen. We took a lovely walk to the local bakery, where we watched the bakers at work and even got to taste some freshly baked bread – it was delicious! Later in the week, we rolled up our sleeves and made our own bread in class. What a wonderful, hands-on way to bring our story to life! #stjohnswey #growingandlearningtogether
Today, Friday 24th October, we held the annual Year 5 and 6 house tournaments. All teams played brilliantly and we had some super goals and teamwork. The winners for both netball and football were the Hawks - what an amazing day they've had! #stjohnswey #growingandlearningtogether
On Wednesday 22nd October Year 4 children in DSAT came together at Salisbury Cathedral to perform in a concert celebrating our unity, diversity and strength as a Trust. St John's along with St Nicholas & St Laurence also visited Old Sarum in Salisbury, one of the most historically important sites in southern England. A great day was had by all. #stjohnswey #growingandlearningtogether
Reminder - Year 3 Parent/Carer Celebration of Learning takes place tomorrow, Friday 24th October at 8.55am. We are looking forward to seeing you there!
On Monday 20th October, our Year 3 class travelled back in time to the Stone Age! The children had a fantastic day taking part in hands-on activities that brought prehistory to life. They made and tasted their own Stone Age bread, painted beautiful pictures of Stonehenge, and even tried their hand at grinding wheat using stone. Everyone enjoyed creating colourful cave paintings inspired by ancient art, and we ended the day gathered around our "campfire," singing songs togetherjust like our Neolithic ancestors. It was a wonderful way to explore history through creativity, teamwork, and imagination! #growingandlearningtogether #stjohnswey
Show Racism the Red Card Day Today, Friday 17th October, our children wore red to take a stand against racism and to celebrate kindness, respect, and equality for everyone. Through discussions and activities, pupils learned that it's not only important to be kind and fair but also to speak up and stand up when we see something that isn't right. At St John's, we're proud of our pupils for showing courage, compassion, and a commitment to making sure everyone feels valued and included. #ShowRacismTheRedCard #StandUp #Equality #Kindness #Respect #WRD25 #growingandlearningtogether #stjohnswey
Ten Year 6s had a great time learning hockey skills on the new Redlands hockey pitch this afternoon, Thursday 16th October, with other local schools. They learnt lots and we're hoping they might join Weymouth Hockey Club to further their skills. Great attitudes and behaviour - well done to all! #growingandlearningtogether #stjohnswey
We celebrated Harvest on Tuesday this week. We thought about all of the things we can be thankful for - family, friends, our homes and our food. Thank you to everyone who has generously donated food items for Weymouth Foodbank. Also thank you to Rev Tom for making us feel so welcome at St John's Church, Weymouth - we had a great time! #growingandlearningtogether #stjohnswey

This means that they can go on to educate their peers, parents and teachers about staying safe online. All children interested in joining will need to complete an application form, available from the school office or their class teacher and return them to the school office by Tuesday 21st October. If their application is successful, they will be invited to join the digital leadership meetings and you will be notified by email. #growingandlearningtogether #stjohnswey

On Friday 3rd October, Year 4 had a fun and educational visit to Dorchester Museum and Art Gallery. This was linked with their Romans topic in History.
