School is now closed for the half term break and we look forward to welcoming all of the children back on Monday 1st June 2026. PE days will be sent via an In-App message and added to our Facebook page before our return to school.
It was fantastic to see so many children and adults wearing orange today, Friday 22nd May, in support of Prader-Willi Syndrome. Thank you for supporting us to raise money & awareness of this rare complex, genetic disorder! #growingandlearningtogether #stjohnswey #praderwillisyndromeawareness #praderwillisyndrome
Yesterday, Wednesday 20th May, all children were invited by Weymouth Town Council to decorate their bikes and scooters and ride them to school. The newly elected Mayor, Councillor David Harris, visited St John's along with his wife and members of the council. They were all blown away by the children's amazing creations and enthusiasm. The wackiest bikes and scooters were awarded an Amazon voucher. Well done to everyone who took part! #growingandlearningtogether #stjohnswey
Year 4 have had a brilliant day so far. They have scaled Corfe Castle, learning some tales about its history and they are currently sat on the steam train on their way to Swanage. They are looking forward to getting to Leeson House! It has been a cloudy day but they are excited to see some sunshine this afternoon! #stjohnswey #growingandlearningtogether
Year 6 have been making bird sculptures in art. They've designed their own fantasy bird, sculpted it with bottles, newspaper, foil and modroc and then painted them. It was messy and fun and we think they look fantastic! #growingandlearningtogether #stjohnswey
On Friday 15th May, Year 6 got to meet Pudsey Bear at the Pavilion. We learnt about his sailing trip around the UK, to raise money for Children in Need, and we got to give him a high five! #pudseybear #bigbearvoyage #growingandlearningtogether #stjohnswey
St John's Eco Council have been thinking about ways we can help our world. They decided to invite the council to talk to the whole school about recycling. On Monday 18th May, the council visited and talked about ways we can all reduce, reuse and recycle to help save our planet. It was a great! We learned about everything we can recycle as well as what happens to these items when recycled. Did you know that you can buy a jumper made out of 25 recycled plastic bottles?! #growingandlearningtogether #stjohnswey
Reception class have had the amazing experience of watching the life cycle of a butterfly. The children were very excited to receive some caterpillars and have patiently watched them grow and form their chrysalises. On Friday 15th May, they were thrilled to release their first butterfly, ready to spread it's wings and explore the world!
At St John's we would like to show support of Prader-Willi Syndrome by holding a 'Go Orange' day on Friday 22nd May. This will be a non-uniform day and children are invited to wear something orange to school. This could be anything orange, even a pair of socks! (No hair dye please). For further information about Prader Willi Syndrome or to donate to the charity please go to https://www.pwsa.co.uk/ #growingandlearningtogether #stjohnswey #praderwillisyndromeawareness
