On behalf of the team here at St John’s CE Primary School I would like to welcome you to our school website, where I hope you will find a lot of useful information about our school. We are a one-form entry primary school welcoming children from the age of 2 years 3 months to age 11. St John’s is committed to providing a strong Christian ethos which is at the heart of all that we do as a school. We pride ourselves on our family feel, our inclusivity and our ambition for all children to become successful learners and caring citizens.

Calling all bakers If you are a keen baker, we would love it if you could bake some cakes to sell at the Easter Celebration (or shop bought is great too) - please remember - NO NUTS and provide a list of ingredients. Year 4 have been working hard this term learning how to play the ukulele. They showed off all of their hard work in their concert yesterday, Thursday 19th March, and they played so well! Thank you to Pili Lopez, Music Area Leader for Dorset Council for coming in and helping to teach us the Ukulele. #growingandlearningtogether #stjohnswey
Last Friday, 13th March, the St. John's girls' team played in the Weymouth Schools Football Tournament. They worked super hard and showed great teamwork. Although they didn't win, they did the school proud! The boys football team also played in the local tournament on 27th February. They also fought hard and put their all into it. These super netballers played in the Weymouth Schools Netball Tournament today, Wednesday 18th March. Although they didn't win, they scored lots of goals and showed excellent teamwork and determination. Well done team St. John's! #growingandlearningtogether #stjohnswey

Reading Competition Reminder – Who can read a book in the most unusual place? We have 5 x £5 book fair vouchers as prizes, and these will be awarded to the top 5 most unusual places. If your child would like to enter, please email a photograph of your child, reading in an unusual place to the school office by Monday 23rd March.

Red Nose Day is back on Friday 20th March and this year we would like to support this special charity with the following; Dress in red clothes – Friday 20th March will be a non-school uniform day and all children are invited to come to school dressed head to toe in red, if they would like to. No hair dye please. Please bring in a donation for Red Nose Day, the suggested amount is £1 but whatever you can afford will be gratefully received. Joking Around – Each class will be holding a joke competition on Friday 20th March. The competition costs 50p to enter and the jokes will be judged by the children in the class. Jokes will need to be written on paper and placed in an envelope, please ensure that the joke is age appropriate. You can find our more information about what your money does here
Reception's topic this term is 'Up the Drawbridge!'. The children have been learning all about castles, knights, dragons and mythical creatures. For their home learning, the children were asked to have a go at making a castle and WOW didn't they do well! We are so impressed by everyone's creativity. #growingandlearningtogether #stjohnswey
