On behalf of the team here at St John’s CE Primary School I would like to welcome you to our school website, where I hope you will find a lot of useful information about our school. We are a one-form entry primary school welcoming children from the age of 2 years 3 months to age 11. St John’s is committed to providing a strong Christian ethos which is at the heart of all that we do as a school. We pride ourselves on our family feel, our inclusivity and our ambition for all children to become successful learners and caring citizens.

Recently our Year 5 had a brilliant time at wagamama in Dorchester! The class travelled by train from Weymouth to Brewery Square, where they were warmly welcomed by the lovely Wagamama team. The children had the opportunity to put their DT skills into practice by designing and making their own smoothies, which they then evaluated. Afterwards, the children worked alongside the chefs to prepare a delicious Chicken Katsu Curry. We then all sat down together to enjoy the meals they had helped to create – resulting in lots of full tummies and very happy children! A huge thank you to the fantastic team at Wagamama for making us feel so welcome and providing the pupils with such a fun and memorable morning of DT learning. It was a brilliant opportunity for the children to develop their practical food preparation skills and see what they have been learning in the classroom brought to life in a professional kitchen. A special well done to Year 5 for their brilliant behaviour throughout the trip. They represented the school wonderfully, showing excellent manners, enthusiasm and respect both on the train and at Wagamama. We were very proud of them! #growingandlearningtogether #stjohnswey

A lunchbox arrived in KeyStage 1 during the first week of term but we have been unable to reunite it with it's owner. If your child has lost their lunchbox, please do come to the school office. Thank you.
Year 6 Parents and Carers Please complete your child's secondary school applications online here https://www.dorsetcouncil.gov.uk/w/starting-secondary-or-upper-school via a smart phone, tablet or computer. The deadline for applications is 31st October 2026.
Fraser Portraits will be in school on Monday 14th September to take portrait photographs of the children. Please can all children wear SCHOOL UNIFORM including their jumper/cardigan. If they usually have PE on a Monday, please bring a PE kit to school in a bag. We will also be able to offer an after-school sibling session from 3.20pm in the school hall. A time slot must be booked via the school office.
Our first Meet the Teacher is today, Tuesday 8th September at 3.30pm in the Year 1 and Year 2 classrooms. We will also be holding a pre-loved uniform sale in the school hall 3-3.30pm CASH only. Please bring small change with you, thank you. #growingandlearningtogether #stjohnswey

We are preparing to welcome all of our children and families to school tomorrow, Thursday 3rd September with some important training taking place, including life saving skills, which is being delivered by Whitehorse Training Dorset , thank you Dan PE days will be sent via In-App Message and uploaded to Facebook later today.
Year 6 - As you leave primary school today, we want to say how proud we are of everything you have achieved. You have been a wonderful part of our school family, and we will miss your smiles, energy, and enthusiasm. Good luck as you begin your next adventure at secondary school. Year 5 had a great time yesterday, Tuesday 21st July, making ramen as part of their DT unit. They carefully thought about what items they wanted in their ramen, taste tested different noodles and designed what they would have in their bowl. The children then carefully chopped up the vegetables and cooked their broth and noodles. Ramen was enjoyed by all! #growingandlearningtogether #stjohnswey
Teddy & Book Sale We will be holding a teddy & book sale after school tomorrow, Thursday 16th July, under the Key Stage 1 shelter. Prices range from 50p - £1. All money raised will go towards the PTA.
